Why does GP practice Hohmann & de Vet not make appointments for blood tests on the advice of other care providers?
We only carry out blood tests that we have requested ourselves, because as the requesting party we are responsible for interpreting the results correctly and giving appropriate advice. If we have not requested the test ourselves and do not know the reasons for it, accurate interpretation is impossible and there are risks involved.
Given our current workload, we do not act as an intermediary or administrative office. Other care providers can request blood tests from a laboratory themselves and are themselves responsible for interpreting the results and handling the administration.
Who counts as "other care providers" in this case?
Other care providers include medical specialists, alternative healers, naturopaths, skin clinics, and so on.
Where can patients go for blood tests requested by other care providers?
For blood tests requested by other care providers, we kindly refer patients to bloedwaardentest.nl or labplusarts.nl
Is there an exception to this rule for blood tests on the advice of a medical specialist?
Yes, an exception can be made if a medical specialist, after discussing it with the GP by phone and with our agreement, decides that the GP should arrange the blood test.
How does it work if an exception is made for a blood test on the advice of a medical specialist?
In this specific case, after consultation between the medical specialist and GP practice Hohmann & de Vet, the GP can refer the patient for the blood test.
Are there alternatives for patients who want a specific blood test on the advice of another care provider?
Yes, patients can use services such as bloedwaardentest.nl and labplusarts.nl for blood tests on the advice of care providers outside GP practice Hohmann & de Vet.
Can I, as a patient, request a blood test myself from GP practice Hohmann & de Vet?
No, blood tests can only be requested by our care providers on the basis of their own medical assessment
