Studying in Rotterdam? We are your GP
Do you live in Kralingen? Then you can register with us. We have a lot of experience with young people and students and understand better than anyone what student life looks like.
A GP who understands your situation
Our practice has a lot of experience with young people and students and with the problems that come with this stage of life. We understand the situation and lifestyle of students. After all, as GPs we went through this period ourselves.
Lifestyle during your studies
Besides studying, there is of course time to go out and party. Short nights, smoking and too much alcohol are then common, and sometimes drug use too. With a healthy lifestyle including exercise, sport and good nutrition, that need not be a problem. Excessive use or chronic lack of sleep can, however, lead to concentration problems and poorer performance. So do everything in moderation.
Increased risk due to pressure to perform
Many students move into student accommodation for the first time, far from family and friends. That new step can create a lot of pressure to perform, both to live independently and to succeed in your studies. This increases the risk of mental health problems such as burnout, depression or (performance) anxiety. STIs and unplanned pregnancies are also common among students; these can often be easily prevented.
Come and see us for help and advice
Not feeling great and want to talk about it? Then come and see us. We are there to support you with advice and practical help, and we are always ready to listen. We enjoy working with young people and give your request for help our full attention.

Frequently asked questions
Questions from students
Can’t find your question? Please feel free to contact us.
Can I register with you as a student?
Yes, if you live in our catchment area: Kralingen, postcodes 3061, 3062 and part of 3063 (not De Esch and Nieuw-Kralingen). Because we are very busy, we only register patients who do not yet have a GP in Kralingen.
Should I register if I am only living in Rotterdam temporarily?
We recommend it. When you are ill, you want a GP nearby who has your medical records. If you stay registered with your GP at home, you can only see us as a temporary patient.
I am an international student. Can I come to you too?
Yes, if you live in our catchment area. You do need valid health insurance. You can read more on our English-language page for students and expats.
What does a visit to the GP cost?
GP care does not count towards your deductible (eigen risico). Laboratory tests outside the practice and medicines usually do. You can read more about this in our questions about the GP and costs.
Can I have an STI test at your practice?
Yes. The laboratory tests then count towards your deductible. At the GGD (municipal public health service), testing is free for young people under 25 and for people at increased risk.
I am struggling with stress or low mood. What can the GP do?
Make an appointment with the GP. Together we look at what you need, for example talks with our mental health practice nurse or a referral. If you need help urgently or are thinking about suicide, call 113 (0800-0113) or 112.
Can I get contraception or PrEP through you?
Yes. The GP discusses with you which contraception suits you. We also prescribe PrEP, including the check-ups that go with it.
I forgot to take the pill. What should I do?
That depends on which pill you take and in which week you forgot it. Check the patient information leaflet or Thuisarts.nl. If you had unprotected sex, you may need the morning-after pill; you can get it without a prescription from the pharmacy or drugstore (drogist).
How quickly can I be seen?
In urgent cases you will see us the same day. For complaints that can wait, you book an appointment yourself via Uw Zorg Online. For a question that is not urgent, use the online consultation.
I am going on exchange or travelling. Do you arrange vaccinations?
Our frequently asked questions about travel and vaccination explain how this works. Arrange it in good time: some vaccinations take several weeks.
