NPA accreditation

Since the end of December 2009, our practice has been accredited under the NPA practice accreditation scheme: the quality mark for GP practices that work continuously on better care.

As a patient you may not notice much of this directly, but behind the scenes we are constantly working on improvements in the way we run our practice. Ultimately, you benefit from this yourself.

What does the quality mark mean?

What about waiting times? Is your data managed properly? Do the staff have enough medical knowledge? You want to be able to visit the doctor with peace of mind. That is why the Nederlands Huisartsen Genootschap (NHG, the Dutch College of General Practitioners), the scientific association of GPs, developed this quality mark. With the quality mark, a practice shows that it considers quality important and works on improvement continuously and systematically.

How does it work?

  1. The practice is thoroughly reviewed: data are collected on the organisation, the medical care and patients’ opinions.
  2. An independent adviser processes these data into a report.
  3. Based on this report, the practice draws up an improvement plan.
  4. An accreditor visits the practice. They assess whether the data have been collected correctly, whether the plans meet the requirements and whether the practice has started carrying them out.
  5. If the practice meets the conditions, it receives the quality mark. Every year the accreditor returns to assess whether the practice is keeping to the agreements and carrying out the improvement plan. The quality mark is valid for one year at a time.

Your opinion matters

An accredited practice listens to its patients: their views are mapped and linked to concrete improvement actions. The quality mark is no guarantee that there will never be any complaints, although that is of course what we strive for.

Do you have a comment or idea about the way we work, our expertise or anything else? We would love to hear it. You can pass it on to the doctor’s assistant.
