Frequently asked questions about respiratory symptoms and COVID-19 (coronavirus) when visiting our practice
Do you have questions about respiratory symptoms and COVID-19 (coronavirus) when visiting our practice? We are happy to answer the most frequently asked questions. If your question is not listed, you can of course always contact us.
Why do we ask you to wear a face mask in the practice if you have respiratory symptoms, even now that almost all COVID-19 measures have been lifted?
We kindly ask you to wear a face mask in our practice if you have respiratory symptoms or if you may be infected with COVID-19. This is important because the virus can still be spread, even if you have no symptoms. By wearing a face mask, we help to reduce the risk of infection for other patients and staff. It is very important to us that we can prevent other patients in the waiting room, or ourselves, from becoming ill. This way, the GP's waiting room does not become a place where you are likely to catch a respiratory virus. And when a face mask is worn if you have respiratory symptoms, our staff are less likely to become ill and be off work. Staffing is challenging enough already, and in this way you can help to ensure that we remain available when you need us.
Do I also need to wear a face mask if I have respiratory symptoms but have not had a positive COVID-19 test?
Yes, we ask you to wear a face mask in the practice in that case too. Respiratory symptoms can be caused by various viruses, not only COVID-19. By wearing a face mask, we protect other patients and staff against the possible spread of other respiratory infections, which can help to prevent them from becoming ill.
Why might staff also wear a face mask?
We also ask our staff to wear a face mask, both when you have respiratory symptoms and when they have respiratory symptoms themselves. We do this to safeguard your safety and that of our staff. Wearing a face mask reduces the risk of spreading infections, which is essential for maintaining a safe environment for everyone involved and for ensuring the continuity of our care.
